WINNER OF THE PHOTO CONTEST “CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE LIGHT!” |
Irene Antuña Juan, a student of 4th grade of secondary education, is the winner of the photography contest “Climate Change in the light!” The jury, formed by representatives of the Education Departments of the Iberian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (Aiza), Palmitos Park and other members of that organization proclaimed winner Irene Antuña Juan, a student of 4th grade of secondary education of the “Asunción” School of Gijón. This contest fits into the "CAMPAIGN AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE: Turn it around!" organized by AIZA and its goal was to raise awareness of the current environmental problems caused by climate change and to reflect the vision that scholars have about this topic. For this reason, participants were able to choose the approach of their work, choosing between submitting a damning photo or, by contrast, a positive image, that was representative of the possible solutions for this problem.
The judge considered that the photograph of the 15-year-old girl, which belongs to a series called "Hudson River", is an accurate criticism about the lack of social awareness to environment protection. The young girl, Irene Antuña will receive an Iberian Education Passport for herself and three people more which will allow her to visit for free until June 2010 any of the 21 zoos and aquariums that have organized this contest (see the list of all centres in the rules of the contest that you can be viewed at the website of the Aiza - www.aiza.org.es). |
